Our lovely components this month are from Diana Ptaszynski of Suburban Girl Studio, LLC. We had our choice of stoneware snowflakes. I chose a white one.
As per my usual modus operandi, I waited until the very last minute, then some family dynamics prohibited me from completely finishing mine. The chain needs to be secured, it needs LOS and a tumble, and I may completely redo the clasp.
Along with Diana's sweet focal, I included a cute blue bird by Caroline Dewison of BlueberriBeads, a white lampwork bead from Mermaid Glass, one of my own copper metal clay components (it started out as a flower, but I filed it into sort of a snowflake shape!) a Czech glass flower, and some cool brushed-finish copper beads from my stash.
I really like the monochromatic effect of all the winter white, with the one pop of color Caroline's sweet bird adds.
I may add some more beads and completely change the design...stay tuned! But first, go see what others have created! Thanks for stopping by...

I love it! And in my head I see it after LOS and a tumble - making the whites whiter, and the color pop more! Keep it!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of LOS too! Love the copper snowflake!
ReplyDeleteGreat design Melissa. I really like your flower turned snowflake. The bird draws the eye into the necklace.
ReplyDeleteThis has the makings of great little winter frieze piece Melissa and I agree with Jenny that the patina and tumble will pull it all together.
ReplyDeleteI really like this necklace and the way it reminds me of winter birds on a snowy day. Love your copper snowflake echoing the focal!
ReplyDeleteThis is very cute Melissa. Keep going with it! It makes me think of the bluejays that live in my side yard. They always stand out when it snows...like right now...cause it's snowing...I think your post jinxed me. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love the direction you're going with this! The patina and tumble will really make the entire thing pop. I would totally wear it
ReplyDeleteI love it so far, it's going to be stunning when it's finished!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I can see why you want to patina the metal. I love the little bird. It reminds me of the bird feeder I finally convinced my husband to put back up again. (Now I just have to be in the kitchen at the right time to see the birds when they come by.)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and whimsical. I always think of the little fat, cold, birds in the winter - this little guy looks like he's trying to get toasty with the snowflake! Love it :)
ReplyDeleteThe sweet little pop-of-blue birdie was a great idea! And, your flower-turned-snowflake...perfectly matched for Diana's focal. This is a piece to remind us that 'Springtime is only a short time away'! Such a great design.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, Melissa. I love all the winter white with the pop of blue. Can't wait to see it after the LOS
