All My Mothers...

No, this is not a spin-off, soap opera!  I just thought it would be nice on Mother's Day to say thank you and honor those who I look to in a motherly way, not just my wonderful Mother, Hazel, who I love, miss, and think of, every single day.

Hazel was 41 when I was born...I was the last of 5 kids.  There were 5 years between my sister Susan and I, and as the baby of the family, everyone can attest that I was spoiled rotten! She passed on after a massive stroke in 1999, a few months after I married Jesse.  I went home  to be with her, but I never saw her in a conscious state before she passed away.  I remember my last phone conversation with her was to call and ask how to fix pork chops with gravy!  I am so happy to have the memory of her being at my wedding, just a few months before she died.

At our wedding in June, 1999...Jesse, his Mom Venus, me, my Mom Hazel
My Mother-In-Law, Venus is a sweet, sweet soul...I never speak to her on the phone without her saying  in her quiet, Filipino accent, "Hello, darling...I love you!"  Thank you, Mom, for taking in a wayward daughter and making her your own, and for raising my Jesse to be the wonderful man, husband and father he is today.

My other Mamas are my sisters Judy, Rachel and Susan.  I don't get to see them often, as they all live in Alabama, and I am pretty lazy about calling them, but I hope they know how much I love them and appreciate all they have done for me in my life!

Hope all you Mothers out there had a very happy Mother's Day yesterday!  I did - was surprised with beautiful flowers, beautiful cards, a sweet sterling necklace, and some pretty crystal pieces - a new clock and a vase!  All that, plus dinner at Macaroni Grill!  I love my boys!!

I love handmade, but will never turn down Tiffany's!

Have a great Monday!

  2. What a beautiful post. I love that you included your sisters as your mothers.

I believe all women who walked this earth before us are our mothers. Their accomplishments and their trials are what got us to this point. They lit the way for motherhood, and shared with us their knowledge passed down from generation to generation, and for that I am thankful.

This was our first Mother's Day without my mother so it was a sad day for all of us.
