Because it is Bead Table Wednesday,
because it is Spring,
because I love Spring Flowers,
because I am still not over my SBS Wire cover high,
and, most importantly,
because you all totally rock,
I would like to give a special reader an assortment of Czech glass beads to create your own "Spring Flowers"!
All you have to do is leaf me a comment (get it? I kill myself!) and answer this question:
"What is your favorite Spring flower?"
I will choose a random comment on Saturday morning (April 2). Make sure you include contact info! I will choose an assortment of beads from my stash...enough to make a couple pairs of earrings or pendants.
I love all flowers, but my all-time, forever, favorite Spring blossom is the daffodil! My Mama always had a yard full of them...I don't remember ever having crocus, so the dafs were always harbingers of Spring. We called them "buttercups" and I still do, even though I know that an actual buttercup is a totally different flower. Mama had lots of varieties..the simple ones you see on the roadside, really ruffly double ones, bi-color, white ones, and paper-whites. One year after she died, I dug some up to bring home with me to plant in my yard, and the bulbs had been there so long that I had to get help to dig them out. Every year when my meager collection blooms, I kick myself for not having planted more the previous autumn....this year I am definitely going to do it! Sadly, I don't think I have any more of those heirloom ones from Mama. I need to make a trip back down south to raid my sisters' yards!
Here are a few I picked yesterday...pretty, aren't they? They are in my favorite McCoy vase (another addiction of mine). I should have taken the photo somewhere else, though, because my milkglass cake plate is distracting :)
So, what's your favorite Spring flower?
I Llove hyacinths, the purpley blue ones, can't get enough of the scent , no matter where they are i'm drawn to them for a sniff!
ReplyDeleteI think it would be what ever the first flower to show its face in my yard at the beginning of spring, this year it happened to be a blue and yellow primrose.....it lets me know spring is really on the way, and all the rain and gloom of winter is almost gone!
ReplyDeleteI am a pansy fanatic. I love their sweet little faces. I haven't had any for awhile but I think that this year is the time for overflowing pots of them!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the day!
Erin
My favorite are tulips! I love the beautiful pinky mauve ones the best! Thanks for the giveaway, Melissa!
ReplyDeleteI am not a yellow person, but I also love a good daffodil, love the vase and cake plate also. contact info cherylkroe@windstream.net
ReplyDeleteI love daffodils too. There are some very fragrant ones that are beautiful, but I'm with Laura on the hyacinths. Love the fragrance and they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI adore the crocus! In fact, they are the only signs of life right now in my garden as we are expected to get yet another shot of snow tonight and tomorrow night. ENOUGH!
ReplyDeleteI love all flowers though. Yours are beautiful, the real ones and your jewelry ones!!
Thank you for the opportunity and your generosity!
What a cool idea! My fav would have to be the hyacinth...the smell sends me over the edge in rapture every time....and I like purple...thank you!
ReplyDeleteI have fallen in LOVE with your daffodil picture! My mother has always been a fan of Birds of Paradise but I have always been a fan of Sun Flowers and Tulips.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stash of leaves, and I love the flower earrings. If I win, I'm going to make an earring pair like that.
ReplyDeleteYou want me to pick just one? I like so many, I guess I'd have to say tulips.
ReplyDeleteYou're so great to share your stash! I'm gonna make some of those flowers regardless!
I finally got my issue of SBS Wire the other day (moved and forgot to change my address) and I love the earrings, Melissa - how wonderful! Favorite flower? Oh gosh, I love all flowers! I'm going to have to go with tulips, though. They seem so...hopeful. I think it's because I used to live in Minnesota and we would plant them and then HOPE the winters didn't kill them!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite spring flower is the tulip and I am working on filling my flowerbeds with them :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite spring flowers are hyacinths and lilacs...both kind of similar I guess. Here in FL, hibiscus and plumeria are in bloom as well - they are not only beautiful, but the smells are amazing. I love your photo of all the leaf beads - so tantalizing! Thanks for the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteHellebores! I have 1 blooming flower right now...surviving the snow and freezing rain here in PA...I love stopping by your blog...It's always a shot of inspiration "goodness"! Just like my hellebores ~
ReplyDeleteTulips - in al colors!
ReplyDeleteMelissa, what a sweet give away! I'd love a chance as I think I only have dagger/leaf style beads in 2 colors & I want to give this project a try! :-) My favorites are the cherry blosoom blooms and tuplips. Tulips mean Spring and Easter to me.
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the daffodils! My mom also had a garden full of them backed by forsythia bushes... love them! I also love the McCoy vase you have them in! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are irises which bloom here in S.Georgia in the spring. But I am also in love with the peach, cherry, and apple blossoms that just finished blooming.
ReplyDeleteHi there! I love tulips! I hope I make it in time for your giveaway! What a lovely gesture!
