Goober says "Hey"!

Sorry I have been somewhat sparse in my posting...we went for a week's vacation down 'Bama way to visit family and I have really had a heckuva time getting caught up with things. Trying to get my jewelry inventory up for etsy, my website, and 2 shows that are upcoming in the next 2-3 months.  Add to that the stress of bill-paying when you are basically living paycheck to paycheck...whew!  It is really draining.

We drove to save money, but it was eye-opening to realize how much money we ended up spending - gas from Maryland and back, a crappy hotel, incidentals...it all adds up!  Granted, it did cost less than flying and having to rent a car as well, but geez! Luckily, we have our trusty Prius, so we averaged 44-45 mpg, even with a loaded-down car, and wonderful, loving sisters who fed us yummy southern meals like Mama used to cook!

While on our trip we boarded our beloved kitty Felix while we were gone, and before we even make it there, I get a call on my cell phone from the vet, all concerned because he had lost weight from his last visit, and asking if he could do blood/urine tests.  My heart sank...Felix's brother Oscar died a couple years ago from a long battle with feline diabetes, which drained us emotionally as well as financially.  All I could think of was, "oh, no, not again".  I must admit, waiting to hear from his tests while we were out of town put a bit of a damper on our visit. Luckily, the tests came back showing just a urinary tract infection, so he got a round of antibiotics and a follow-up visit this week. Big sigh of relief!

Hope you are all having a fabulous week.  I can't believe it is August already!

Edited to say...I came back up from my hometown with the sweetest southern drawl...it happens whenever I "go home" (or talk to my sisses on the phone, or am just too tired, or have too much to drink)!  Down there, at least in my family, we don't say "hi" or "hello" to each other, it's "hey"!
